Flickers, presents and creates films, educational programs and outreach, live performances and cultural events. Flickers produces video, audio and film about the arts for television, festivals and other non-profit organizations. Flickers creates and produces educational programs that teach about the media arts. From an acclaimed international film festival held throughout the state each August to a Japanese film festival held in conjunction with the Black Ships Festival in Newport, to Flickers' award-winning arts and cultural television series, "Between Takes," to the Creative Impulse Awards, to radio programming with "DoubleFeature," to the Jamestown Chamber Music Series, to ScriptBiz and the KidsEye Summer Filmmaking Camp, Flickers has brought live performances, great films, interviews with leading artists, and innovative educational programs to appreciative audiences for 35 years.
Flickers, the Newport Film Society and Arts Collaborative offers multiple scholarships each year for college students in varying arts based programs.

Description
Ranked as a one of the Top 10 Film Festivals in the United States, this world-class event will be held at venues around Providence. It features screenings, filmmaking workshops, meet-and-greet industry events and seminars. Aiming to promote Rhode Island as a filmmaking location and to celebrate the independent filmmaking spirit, FLICKERS also hosts a number of high-profile premieres and provides a showcase for international features, documentaries, and shorts. RIIFF accepts films of any type, in any genre. Films accepts are shot and produced in countries across the globe. Rhode Island native Bobby Farrelly was so impressed with the festival's debut that he held the world premiere of his next film - There's Something About Mary - at the 1998 event

Brownell Scholarship Fund: For students in film and the arts as part of its year long focus celebrating women in film, it is an annual scholarshiplaunched to honor retired university of Rhode Island Dean Winifred E. Brownell The Drywa/Feinberg Scholarship Fund: For students in Education to celebrate the Memory of Diane Drywa and Ross Feinberg. The Jim Seavor Scholarship Fund: For students in Journalism and Writing.

KidsEye Summer Filmmaking Workshop: KidsEye is an intensive and fun five-day summer workshop held at the Moses Brown School, at 250 Lloyd Avenue, in Providence, RI that exposes young people to the basic elements of the filmmaking process, culminating in a premiere screening of their finished work.
