Description

AccessPoint RI is committed to assisting families to develop successful respite services for their child. As primary care givers, parents of children with special health care needs and other family members face additional challenges that can affect quality of life for all family members, and may affect the family’s long term ability to support this child at home. Therapeutic respite is designed to assume temporary care of the child with special health care needs within the child’s home and community so that other family members can find relief from these increased responsibilities, or additional support during crisis situations. Therapeutic Respite offers the other family members the ability to participate in personal activities, offers opportunities for rest and relaxation, and strengthens bonds within the family unit.
