The East Providence Police Department is comprised of four major organizational components including the Office of the Chief of Police, the Patrol Division, the Detective Division, and the Services Division. Numerous specialized units such as the Traffic Unit, Juvenile Unit, Prosecution Unit, Vice Unit, Training Unit, Community Policing Unit, and the Office of Professional Standards and School Resource Officers work within these divisions to provide a wide array of law enforcement services.

The East Providence Animal Control Center works to provide temporary shelter and permanent homes for the stray and abandoned domestic animals within East Providence and to enforce state and local laws pertaining to public safety and animal welfare.
