Charlestown Animal Control is a municipally run shelter, finding homes for strays and abandoned animals in the Charlestown area.

Hours

Monday – Friday 8:30AM-4:00PM, Saturday 8:30AM-1:00PM

Eligibility

At least 18 years of age. Have identification showing proof of your current residence. Have landlord’s consent to bring an animal onto the property and in residence. Understand that all donations/fees are non-refundable. Understand that the A.C.O. has the full authority to approve, delay, or deny your application. Understand that the person filling out the application must be the potential adopter. Understand that we cannot guarantee the health and/or temperament of any animal. Understand that failure to answer any questions completely and truthfully will result in a delay or refusal of your application. Understand that this transaction is not a purchase, it is a lifetime commitment. Please be certain that you have adequate time to spend with your new pet, including the time for training (or retraining), and exercise. We hope you will agree that the animal’s welfare must be our foremost consideration.

Leash law violations: 1st- $15, 2nd- $25, 3rd- $35; Unlicensed dog: $10; No rabies vaccination: $15; Nuisance Animal: $30; Requires 3 written complaints from 3 different residents (i.e., tipping over trash) Daily boarding fee: $4
