Description:

Federal Hill House has Child and Family Development offering two home visiting and playgroup programs for families with young children.

Providence Talks is a free early intervention program that seeks to develop young children's vocabulary and language skills in low-income households ages birth to 3. Home visitors provide weekly educational activities for families in either individual or group settings. Both home visiting and playgroup models provide free books each week.

Parents-As-Teachers (PAT) Program promotes optimal early development, learning and health of young children by supporting and engaging their parents and caregivers. Parents learn about early childhood development and the important role they play as their child's first teachers. The PAT program engages parents during the critical time of their child's early formative years (ages 0-4), as well as offers information to detect developmental delays, health issues, and prevent neglect. Parent peer educators visit families with young children to provide resources and support, and lead monthly playgroups where parents can connect with their peers. The program is available in both English and Spanish.
