Parents as Teachers is a free, voluntary, confidential services to expectant mothers and families with young children under the age of four. The program is a long term, evidence-based, family visiting program, made to increase parent knowledge of early childhood development and improve parenting practices.

Food Pantry:
BVCAP has a food pantry available to low-income families on weekdays.You can receive free food once a month by appointment only.Please bring your own bags!To schedule an appointment call: (401) 723-4520

Tax Assistance:
Blackstone Valley Community Action Program provides free tax assistance to those with an annual income less than $55,000. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site at BVCAP is open from January until April, with trained tax preparers.

Description

Project Undercover believes that every child has the right to be clean and dry. That’s why we provide free diapers, socks, underwear and baby wipes to help the approximately 45,000 children throughout Rhode Island living in poverty. Clients are able to receive one package of diapers every 30 days for each child under the age of 3. Diapers are available for pickup on weekdays between 9am and 3pm.

Description

LeadSafe Homes Program was developed to help eliminate the dangers of lead in the property. Funds are available to properties built before 1978, properties with pregnant women and children under the age of six, and home-based daycares or foster homes that may contain lead paint. There are no out of pocket expenses or monthly payments. Funds are grants/loans and loans are forgiven after 5 years for owner-occupied properties and 10 years for rental properties. Improvements may include new windows and doors, interior and exterior painting and lead safe yards and play areas.

Description

Registered Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site: Staff of Volunteer tax preparers are IRS trained, tested, and certified to help people who qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit program receive the tax credits they deserve. THIS IS A FREE SERVICE. You must bring a copy of your previous year's return, all financial statements pertaining to tax year 2020, your social security card, and a picture ID.

      Description

      LeadSafe Homes Program was developed to help eliminate the dangers of lead in the property. Funds are available to properties built before 1978, properties with pregnant women and children under the age of six, and home-based daycares or foster homes that may contain lead paint. There are no out of pocket expenses or monthly payments. Funds are grants/loans and loans are forgiven after 5 years for owner-occupied properties and 10 years for rental properties. Improvements may include new windows and doors, interior and exterior painting and lead safe yards and play areas.

      Description

      Parents as Teachers is a free, voluntary, confidential services to expectant mothers and families with young children under the age of four. The program is a long term, evidence-based, family visiting program, made to increase parent knowledge of early childhood development and improve parenting practices. Parents as Teachers also provides early detection of developmental delays and health issues and increase school readiness and success.

      VITA 2022

      Description

      Registered Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site: Staff of Volunteer tax preparers are IRS trained, tested, and certified to help people who qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit program receive the tax credits they deserve. THIS IS A FREE SERVICE. You must bring a copy of your previous year's return, all financial statements pertaining to tax year 2020, your social security card, and a picture ID.

The person can receive up to $365.
