Pink Disease

An infantile disease caused by chronic mercury poisoning that is characterized by lesions of the skin on the hands and feet, swelling of the extremities, digestive disturbances, and itching of the hands and feet which, along with the cheeks and tip of the nose, are intensely pink. The disease is frequently followed by arthritis involving multiple joints and muscle weakness. The disease is caused by hypersensitivity to mercury.
