Severe Intellectual Disabilities

A clinical condition in which the individual's level of intellectual functioning is within the IQ range of 20-34. Individuals with severe intellectual disabilities are capable of basic nonacademic skills which focus on self-care and self-preservation including basic communication skills. Some can learn to perform simple tasks in the home or work in a sheltered, prevocational setting, but require supervision throughout their lives.
