Parking Regulations Development

Taxonomy Code: TE-6500.6650

Programs that establish parking regulations for a community which help to maximize available parking, maintain traffic flow and enhance public safety; and designate parking zones throughout the community (e.g., no parking/no stopping zones, passenger loading zones, commercial loading zones, parking zones for people with disabilities, time-limit parking zones, one and two-hour parking zones) which are marked by colored curbs and/or signs to help drivers quickly identify parking rules for the area. Parking is generally prohibited near bus stops, taxi stands or fire lanes/routes; on specific sides of the street during snow emergencies or street cleaning days; or in sections of the roadway that block crosswalks or driveways, intrude on intersections or encroach upon sidewalks.
