Design Review/Approval

Taxonomy Code: TE-4510.4550-170

Programs that conduct reviews of proposed development projects and recommend approval or denial on the basis of specific aesthetic standards which address historic features, environmental quality, building height, architectural styles, building materials, view and natural features preservation, neighborhood character and other similar concerns. The purpose of the review is to protect and enhance the jurisdiction’s appearance, unique aesthetic character and economic value; and ensure that the size, shape and orientation of lots and structures are designed to provide desirable building sites logically related to topography, natural features, streets, parking areas, common land (if any), other structures and adjacent land use. The need for a design review is generally based on the size of a proposed development and the zone in which the building will occur.
