Scrapbooking Clubs
Taxonomy Code: PS-8200.0550-780
Programs that provide organized opportunities for individuals to pursue their interest in finding artistic ways to combine photographs and memorabilia (e.g., ticket stubs, maps, coins, letters, cards, certificates, newspaper articles) in scrapbook style albums, often through the medium of a club or society which is under the leadership of people who are knowledgeable in the subject. Activities may include lectures by people with scrapbooking expertise, demonstrations of different techniques using a variety of scrapbooking tools and materials, and regular meetings at which people can share their own scrapbooking techniques, exchange tips on the storage and handling of finished books, enjoy the company of other enthusiasts and have time to work on their albums. Some scrapbooking clubs also arrange for discounts on materials, sponsor exhibits of books created by members, publish a newsletter or provide access to a library of resources about the craft. Included are Internet-based virtual clubs, WebRings devoted to the subject and clubs where members meet face-to-face.
