The Matty Project and Epilepsy Foundation New England have teamed up to provide family resources, raise epilepsy awareness, promote patient safety and improve the quality of life for children and families living with epilepsy.
A resource center for children, families and caregivers struggling with Epilepsy on a daily basis. To provide funding for Epilepsy research, education, awareness and scholarships for children with Epilepsy.
The resource center awards scholarships to high school seniors, a week long camp, research, lecture series, hospital presentations and special events for epilepsy. Offers support and outreach to families affected by epilepsy throughout Rhode Island. Provides Information, advocacy, and education in a variety of ways, including:
- My Friend Matty Epilepsy Awareness Program: an educational program designed for grades Pre-K - 3, to educate students about what epilepsy is, seizure safety (basic seizure first aid) and promote acceptance, empathy and friendship.
- Camp Matty: a week long therapeutic horseback riding summer day camp for children with epilepsy.
