Spectator Sports
Programs that provide opportunities for individuals of all ages to participate in footraces over a specified distance of ground as a test of speed, endurance and stamina. Many marathons include divisions for individuals who use wheelchairs.
Olympics/Olympics Style Competitions
An international program of sports training and athletic competition that features a variety of sports and games. Also included are Olympics-style amateur sports festivals that may be narrower in geographic scope.
Sporting events which feature paid professional athletes who receive a salary for their play, compete in events which have associated prize money and/or are sponsored to play by organizations that pay their salary and/or expenses. Included are organizations that sponsor, organize, hold, promote, sell tickets to and publicize the events; provide information about competition schedules; and/or maintain information about player statistics and individual or team standings.
