Tri-County’s Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, or LIHEAP, offers assistance with managing costs associated with home energy bills. Tri-County is able to help with paying fuel and utility bills during the winter months for eligible clients, and we can arrange for the installation of home insulation to reduce home-heating costs (gas, electric, propane, oil, kerosene or wood) through our weatherization program.

Tri-County is continually seeking partnerships with other RI organizations that will allow us to provide even more services to those in need, especially to those in crisis situations.

Description

Through such a partnership with the Rhode Island Foundation, Tri-County is able to assist clients in housing crisis and in emergency need of rent or mortgage assistance. The Rhode Island Foundation’s Basic Human Needs grants support community agencies, such as Tri-County, to provide emergency basic human needs to clients, including housing and rental assistance. Our team of Emergency Services staff are available to answer questions, and connect you with resources to ensure your basic needs are provided, when you need them

    Registered Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site: Staff of Volunteer tax preparers are IRS trained, tested, and certified to help people who qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit program receive the tax credits they deserve. THIS IS A FREE SERVICE. You must bring a copy of your previous year's return, all financial statements pertaining to tax year 2021, your social security card, and a picture ID.

      Special Notes/Funding

      Weatherization Program assists low-income individuals and families to permanently reduce their energy consumption and increase energy efficiency, thereby reducing the cost of energy bills. Energy audits are conducted in the home by our staff of qualified and friendly auditors. Energy audits will determine the need for insulation, weather-stripping, air sealing, pipe wrapping, and replacement of windows. Must meet income eligibility guidelines.

      Programs that provide assistance in the form of labor and supplies to help people improve the energy efficiency of their homes and protect them from the elements. The program provides ceiling insulation, attic venting, double glazed windows, weather-stripping, minor housing envelope repairs, low-flow showerheads, evaporative cooler vent covers, water heater blankets, pipe wrap, duct wrap, switch and outlet gaskets, caulking, and other related energy conservation measures. Weatherization programs may have age, income, disability or other eligibility requirements.

      Youth Sports Programs: The Tri-County Community Action Agency offers young people in grades K – 8 year round organized athletic opportunities at our facility located on 33 Maple Avenue in North Providence.n addition, we have also run midnight basketball leagues for young adults ages 18 to 24, as well as girls-only basketball leagues. Each year we serve about 1,200 different young people.

      Description

      6500 square foot gymnasium to provide year round organized athletic leagues for youth within the community. With childhood obesity being a nationwide epidemic and more and more young people showing signs of diabetes, it is imperative that youth have an opportunity to participate in sports and recreational programs. Through a grassroots effort, TCCAA has been able to serve over 10,000 different young people since 2010 in a diverse cross section of organized athletic leagues, including: Indoor Soccer (winter) Floor Hockey (spring) Basketball (summer) Flag Football (fall)

      The cost of registration is only $30 per player, with most equipment included. Scholarships are available to ALL families in need.
