Westerly Education Center is managed by the State Of Rhode Island!€™s Office of the Postsecondary Commissioner. Founded in 2017, the Westerly Education Center is a public-private collaboration designed to bring together higher education, business, industry, and community partners to provide high-quality educational programs to meet projected workforce growth in the region.

WEC delivers high-quality educational classes to meet projected workforce growth in the region. All Rhode Island public higher education institutions (University of Rhode Island, Community College of Rhode Island, and Rhode Island College), the Office of the Postsecondary Commissioner, and the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training are partners in the effort to provide workforce training and improved regional access to curricula offerings.

The center is available for any business wishing to rent classrooms or the multi-use room for training sessions, meetings, webinars and more. If desired, businesses can opt to engage with the center!€™s higher education partners to develop customized courses. Whether training new hires or offering professional development for current staff, the center is ideal for off-site programming.

    Registered Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site: Staff of Volunteer tax preparers are IRS trained, tested, and certified to help people who qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit program receive the tax credits they deserve. THIS IS A FREE SERVICE. You must bring a copy of your previous year's return, all financial statements pertaining to tax year 2019, your social security card, and a picture ID.

    Valid Proof of identification Original Social Security Card(s) for self, spouse and all dependents All 2020 W-2 & 1099 forms Copy of 2019 Federal Tax Return if possible Child and Dependent Care Expense For direct deposit bring a check or savings account number with routing number

    Earned $57,000 or less in 2020 To qualify for Property Tax Relief Credit (please note it is total household size and total household income): An individual must be (all of the qualifiers below) - Elderly or disabled - Receive Social Security Benefits - Lived in RI all of 2020 - Lived in an apartment or home subject to property tax. The person can receive up to $365.
