Description:

Services: Provides intake/outreach in areas of housing (including fuel assistance, home improvements and placement), emergency services (including domestic violence, fire and vandalism), shut-in, home-bound. Emergency food is available. Community relations involve workshops, urban gardening. Youth program operates during after-school hours, weekends and school vacations (offers counseling on college preparation; placement and career awareness; co-ed basketball for ages 13-18 years). After school program for children, ages 6-12; Girl Power, ages 6-12, (cooking, health, arts and crafts); ESL; job referral services;

Income Source: City of Providence

Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Supplemental Feeding and Nutrition Program provides food vouchers, allowing them to purchase milk, eggs, cheese, juice and iron fortified cereals and formula. The WIC coordinator provides nutrition education and counseling to all program participants on a monthly basis.

Registered Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site: Staff of tax preparers are IRS trained, tested, and certified to help people who qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit program receive the tax credits they deserve. THIS IS A FREE SERVICE. You must bring a copy of your previous year's return, all financial statements pertaining to tax year 2018, your social security card, and a picture ID.

Eligibility:

VITA: Earned $55,000 or less in 2018. To qualify for Property Tax Relief Credit (please note it is total household size and total household income):
An individual must be (all of the qualifiers below)
- Elderly or disabled
- Receive Social Security Benefits
- Lived in RI all of 2018
- Lived in an apartment or home subject to property tax.
The person can receive up to $365.
