Federal Hill House has Child and Family Development offering a playgroup program for families with young children.

Providence Talks is a free early intervention program that seeks to develop young children's vocabulary and language skills in low-income households ages birth to 3. Home visitors provide weekly educational activities for families in either individual or group settings. Both home visiting and playgroup models provide free books each week. Providence Talks, Early Learning Center-Federal Hill House's Early Learning Center serves children 6 weeks to 5 years old. There are four classrooms: Infant (6 weeks to 18 months). Toddler (18 months- 3 years), Pre-School(3-5 years old) and three playgrounds. We have a 3 star rating from BrightStars and are recognized for our innovative curriculum tailored to meet the needs of young children. FHH accepts private pay and Department of Human Services (DHS) subsidies. The ELC participates in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) as well to provide meals and nourishment to enrolled children. Providence Talks' parent educators facilitate weekly playgroups across Providence that introduce, model, and practice strategies and that help increase parent-child interaction. The programs aim to reduce chronic absenteeism by providing families after school care options that focus on students' socio-emotional needs. This includes a light snack, arts and crafts, outdoor play, and activities encouraging teamwork, creativity, and leadership. This program is free for students who qualify. Summer Camp, Service Learning and Work-Based Learning- our teen programs engage young people ages 14 to 24 with service learning, job training, internships, and educational workshops that help prepare them for the future. Federal Hill House employs up to 80 young people ages 12 to 24 during the summer months through the City of Providence's Summer Jobs Program and the State's Real Skills for RI Youth. Youth ages 14 and 15 participate in a six-week Service Learning Program, "ACT" (Achieving Change Together). They identify issues of importance, learn about why and how they exist, and plan ways to address those issues. Young people ages 16 to 24 are placed in internships within Federal Hill House and at partner agencies throughout our community. They learn important hard and soft skills and valuable lessons in workplace success. Interns take part in weekly educational workshops on topics such as workplace communication, financial literacy, and connecting education and careers. A dedicated coach-mentor supports on the job success through frequent visits to job sites. During the fall of 2021, FHH launched a Work-Based Learning Program that trains and places young people ages 18-24 in work-based learning settings in child care and youth development programs. During summer 2022, most of our teens in the program interned here at at one of our FHH campuses. A few students also worked at other organizations throughout Providence such as, John Hope Settlement House, Soulita and Fab Living Realty.

The FHH Food Pantry and Olneyville Food Center help individuals and families stretch their limited resources to help put health food on the table, every day. Individuals and families can access either food pantry twice a month for up to a week's worth of food, for free, each visit. Description

(FGP) provides opportunities for adults ages 55 and above to volunteer directly with young children at local community centers, day cares, schools, and other designated sites across Providence. Income-eligible Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) participants receive a stipend for their time and regularly come together for meals, professional development, information sharing, and resources. Parents-As-Teachers (PAT) Program promotes optimal early development, learning and health of young children by supporting and engaging their parents and caregivers. Description

Own your Health RI- Evidence-based health and wellness workshops, offered through FHH's Own Your Health Coalition, help older adults live fuller and healthier lives. FHH offers free workshops including: Chronic Disease Self Management, Chronic Pain Self Management, a Matter of Balane (fall prevention) and Tai Chi Quan. These programs are designed for those seeking to better maintain and stay informed about their health as well as be their own best advocates with their medical professionals and caregivers. The workshops are given through a peer to peer model, so participants learn from those managing the same health concerns., Central Providence Healthy Aging Network (CP-HAN)-the Central Providence Healthy Aging Network is a "village" membership club that connects older adults with community resources. Our goal is to help older adults maintain their independent and quality of life. The CP-HAN connects older adults with an array of opportunities and supports, including daily meals, exercise, enrichment, transportation, minor home repair, home visiting, nutrition education, access to food support, healthcare advocacy. CP-HAN utilizes staff, volunteers, and community partnerships to keep seniors active and healthy. Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)-Federal Hill House leads the Providence VITA/EITCS (Earned Income Tax Credit) Coalition, a citywide partnership of eight sites providing free tax preparation services for individuals and families making generally less than $64,000 per year, the elderly, persons with disabilities and limited-English speakers. VITA ensures accurate and maximized tax returns that are e-filed for faster refunds. VITA operates during tax season, RSVP links adults ages 55 and above with volunteer opportunities including income tax preparation for low income community members.
