The City of Providence Animal Shelter/ Animal Control provides a temporary shelter with humane and compassionate care for stray abused, neglected and impounded animals; coordinate their adoption when possible; and promote community education on proper animal safety, pet care, pet overpopulation and responsible pet ownership.

Description
The Providence Animal Control Division protects the health and safety of our residents and their pets with progressive leadership and education, and continues to engage the hearts and minds of the community to help all animals. As of November 2015, the Animal Control Division has adopted a âlow risk euthanasiaâ philosophy of healthy adoptable animals and will continue to improve the live release rate of shelter animals via adoptions, returning strays to their owners, transferring animals to rescues and treating medical cases.

Call or walk-in. If you have a stray, please do not bring animals into the lobby area. Leave the animal safely confined in the car and alert the front desk.
