The South County Hospital's Outpatient Diagnostic Imaging Center is accredited by the American College of Radiology and maintains electronic records of imaging studies throughits Picture Archiving and Storage System (PACS)- an important benefit should you require emergency care or treatment. The comprehensive range of diagnostic imaging services offered includes the following: Bone Densitometry, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, CT scan (Computed Tomography), CT scan (low dose for lung cancer screening), Interventional Radiology, Mammography (3D), MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), Nuclear Medicine, PET/CT Scans, Ultrasound, and X-ray. South County Health offers The Patient Financial Advocacy Program to reach patients with payment and financial support options at the time of registration. The office is located at the Emergency Room entrance and is open daily. The office provides hospital care without charge to uninsured Rhode Island residents who meet income guidelines. Hospital charity care requirements cover those essential services necessary to diagnose, correct, or cure a medical condition that endangers life, causes pain and suffering, results in illness or infirmity, or causes a physical deformity or malfunction. Both inpatient and outpatient services are included. To receive full charity care, patients annual family income must be up to and including 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. For partial charity care, patients annual family income must be between 200% and 300% of the Federal Poverty Level may receive assistance based on a sliding scale. In addition to income, hospitals have the option to consider other assets. Also must be denied from Medicaid first depending on income. Patients who get accepted will receive financial aid for a year. **For patients who feel that an application or appeal was wrongfully denied should call the RI Dept. of Health info line 222-5960.
